Lens Clouding

Posterior capsular opacification

Once your cataract has been removed and the intra ocular lens (IOL) has been put into your eye – it needs to remain clear to ensure that you keep the best possible vision

It’s common with standard IOLs that they become cloudy which then requires another small procedure to make them clear again – the clouding is called posterior capsular opacification (PCO)

The below pictures show eyes which have had IOLs implanted – the top picture shows the clouding of the IOL and the bottom picture shows a clear lens.

Premium intra ocular lens – clear with no clouding

Standard intra ocular lens – with clouding

Clouding of the IOL and the need for a further procedure can be avoided by using a premium IOL. Mr Subramaniam will advise you on the best type of IOL for you eye to ensure that you can enjoy having toublefree vision.
